a better version of me

(Razon's Halo-Halo and my hair which, according my my mother, makes me look like a crazy 14 year-old)

so summer usually equates to me devouring bowls full of IceKachangclick; but since that doesn't exist in good'ol Philippines, i have to make-do with the local Halo-Halo (which is kinda like IceKachang but without the sweet colorful syrups and the myriad of gummy-beany nonsense hidden beneath a mound of ice). the Halo-Halo is seriously so boring in comparison. it's just one big bleh and refuses to appease any discomfort brought about by the summer heat. in fact, i usually get ill just thinking about eating it.

i especially detest ChowKing'sclick monstrosity of a Halo-Haloclick. it's a wanna-be IceKachang without the sweet sugary syrups and served in a disgusting fast-food joint which gave me food-poisoning a few weeks back. i know i've said this before but i will never ever ever ever eat at ChowKing ever again. i still don't know what possessed me to accompany my father there and order myself bowls of disgusting mutant Chinese food. okay, to be fair the Halo-Halo wasn't that bad, but everything else i ordered was one big highway to food poisoning. my stomach and bowels have yet to fully recover from my horrible 2-day stint atop the toilet bowl. i seriously deliriously hate ChowKing.

i hate it even more now for making me reluctant to try any cheap Chinese food here in the Philippines.

you see, i love Chinese food. if i had to eat just one cuisine for the rest of my life, i'd pick Chinese. that's how much i love it. so i hate how hard it is to find a good place that sells decent Chinese food here (apart from those over-priced restaurants) - and i hate it even more that ChowKing markets itself as Chinese fast-food haven. puke.

i just really miss the Hawker Centers in Singapore brimming with cheap bowls of chicken rice, hor fun, char kway teow, hokkien mee and, my love, the IceKachang.

great. now i'm hungry.
